Uninstalling and re-installing vlc and libvlc5 did not have any impact.
I get the same error message on startup.

sorry for being not correct, when entering the error message.
The correct error message is: "VLC version is too old or missing files. Please upgrade VLC"

The zip File attached contains the installation log and the output from bdjinfo.tcl

I have installed version 3.29.21 on Ubuntu 20.04 with the ./INSTALLER script. It worked like a charm. :D Thanks.
When starting BallroomDJ, I get the message "VLC is missing important files or not installed".

Installation script installed VLC 3.0.9.
Installing VLC 3.0.11 manually does not ...

You are right, XP is no longer supported. I droppped this and switched to Ubuntu.
This problem report is solved.

Hi,
when installing the 32bit Version 3.29.21 on Windows XP I am getting an error:
Wish.Exe: The procedure entry point OpenThreadToken could not be located in KERNEL32.dll.

The same error message will be displayed when starting the application.
BallroomDJ terminates after this message.

I have sent you some debugging information.

Meanwhile I was able to improve application responsiveness a lot by adding an exception for BallroomDJ application and music folders to my antivirus software. I am using Avast Free Antivirus ...

addendum:
Mouseclicks and other events are processed, when VLC is paused between 2 songs.

Potential work around:
Switched from "Internal VLC" to "VLC" in Options / Player menu seems to improve responsiveness, but not 100%
