Hi! First of all, thank you for creating such a wonderful app! I'm hoping to try it soon. I've just installed on Fedora Linux 38 64-bit. I've gotten as far as scanning my music folder (containing 10579 files) and it seems to be stuck with the tagging process (been running for over an hour). How long is this expected to run for?

While it can take a long time, it shouldn't take more than an hour for that number of files.
A complete rebuild on my (fairly fast) computer for almost 5k files takes 33 seconds with debugging on.
I think I tested 65k files once, and it took more than two hours.
Obviously, it depends on the speed of the computer and its hard drive.

Most likely it has run into an audio file with bad tags or weird tags that crashes my program.

First I would select the Stop button, then close the management window.
Then in the starter window, select Actions, then Stop all BDJ4 Processes, as there may still be a database update process hanging.

To help me figure out the problem:
In Configure, select Debug, turn on Audio Tags and Database Update.
Exit BDJ4 and restart it (this guarantees a new log file).
Use the Update Database and Check for New process again.
After it hangs, take the steps above, Stop, close management, Actions, Stop all BDJ4 Processes.

Then select Support, Send Support Message. Check the two checkboxes: Attach Data Files and Attach Database.
Select Send Support Message to send me the data files and database.

I can take a look at the log files and see what's happening.

(I'm going to move this thread into the "Problem Reports" section of the forums, don't be surprised if it seems to disappear).

During the process of testing version 4.3.3, I ran into an issue on Windows where the database update processing did not work as expected. This has been fixed in version 4.3.3.

I have never heard back from the OP, so I don't know if this is the problem he was having.

I found a crash when parsing ID3 audio file tags. Fixed in version 4.4.9.2.
I think the version that the OP was using still had the python-mutagen audio tag interface.
