Music Players

What's required in a music player?

  • Be able to play music via the command line.
  • Alternatively, have an API available that can be used to play music.
  • Pause and Play
  • Seek in song.
  • Speed/Pitch control.

Unfortunately this is a bit rare. mplayer can play music via the command line, but there are a lot of problems with sound glitches during startup, etc.

MPRIS can be used on Linux for some players, but the support for speed/pitch control is rare.

VLC has all of the above.
