Some misbehaved robot(s) are banging on the BDJ forums today. These robots do not have a valid user-agent header identifying themselves as robots.
I blocked a lot of IP addresses from accessing my server and it is now possible to access the forums. The number of IP addresses they are using seem endless and come from India, Japan, China, Europe, other places. Unfortunately, since these robots are purposely spoofing a real user, there's no easy way to block all of the access. There's no way to block them all, there's just too many.
To give you an idea how bad this attack is, The IP Range 43.128.0.0 to 43.167.255.255 has blocked 5652K bytes of data in perhaps 10 minutes or so.
And in the time I took to type this, that number has gone up to 6050K (6 megabytes of requests blocked).
I will have to unblock these IP addresses at a later date. These nasty people use Amazon's AWS servers, other public servers around the world. And at a later date, some legitimate user or service may need to access the BDJ4 forums.
